Mental health of looked-after children: Committee announces report publication

25 April 2016

The Education Committee publishes its Fourth Report of Session 2015-16, "Mental health and well-being of looked-after children", 00.01am on Thursday 28 April 2016.

Inquiry background

The Committee launched this inquiry in September 2015, building on the Health Committee's report (PDF 1.49MB) on children and adolescents' mental health and CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services).

The inquiry considered, among other things, whether current guidance on the mental health and well-being of children in care and care leavers was sufficient, the extent and quality of services provided, the co-ordination between different bodies in the provision of care, and how young people and their carers can be more involved in designing services for looked-after children.

Embargoed copies and media inquiries

Embargoed electronic copies of the report can be provided upon request to Government departments, oral evidence witnesses, and the media from Tuesday 26 April 2016.

Requests should be sent to educom@parliament.uk by midday on Tuesday 26 April 2016.

All media inquiries should be addressed to Gary Calder – calderg@parliament.uk
