Committee hears from parents on the SEND system

The Education Committee focuses on parents' experiences of the SEND system during the latest stage of the special educational needs and disabilities inquiry. On Monday 3 November the Committee will be publishing written submissions to the inquiry.

Purpose of the session

Members will have the chance to ask a panel of parents about their experiences of the SEND system and the impact of the Children and Families Act 2014 reforms. The discussion with the second panel will explore the role of Parent Carer Forums and how they view the reforms.

Written evidence

More than 600 submissions have been received. They include those from parents outlining their experiences of the system, as well as those from schools, local authorities, representative bodies and other interested parties. Published written submissions will be available on the Committee's website on Monday.
