Postponement of additional Backbench Business debates
25 March 2020
The Backbench Business Committee has agreed that additional debates will be postponed this week to allow for other business in the Chamber.
Additional debates to be rescheduled include:
- Debate on a motion on errors in payments made to victims of the Equitable Life scandal, due to be opened by Bob Blackman
- Debate on human rights in Kashmir, due to be opened by Debbie Abrahams
The Committee will announce new dates for this debate in due course.
Backbench Business Committee
The Backbench Business Committee meets weekly on Tuesdays to consider requests for debates from any backbench Members of Parliament on any subject.
The Committee then has to decide how to allocate the limited Parliamentary time it has at its disposal. The Committee's meetings are always conducted in public and can be watched on Parliament TV.
