Liaison Committee recommends the establishment of four new committees

14 March 2016

The House of Lords Liaison Committee has today published its third report of the 2015-16 session, in which it recommends to the House four proposals for new investigative committees in the 2016-17 session. The report will now go to the floor of the House for approval.

Proposals recommended to the House

In the second report of this session, the Liaison Committee announced that they envisage a total of four ad hoc Committees being appointed in the 2016-17 and 2017-18 sessions, the same number as in the present session. The Chairman accordingly invited proposals from members of the House for ad hoc Committees in the 2016-17 Session.

The Committee recommends the following proposals to the House for appointment in 2016-17:

  • Long-term sustainability of the NHS
  • Sustaining the charity sector and the associated challenges of governance
  • Financial exclusion and access to mainstream financial services
  • The Licensing Act 2003 (post-legislative scrutiny)

The Committee's report will be debated in the House on Tuesday 22 March.
