2016–17 Select Committee activity reviewed by Liaison Committee

The House of Lords Liaison Committee today publishes its report on Committee activity in the 2016–17 Parliamentary Session. The Session saw the establishment of the new International Relations Committee. The co-ordinated series of Brexit-related inquiries following the result of the referendum on the UK's membership of the EU led to an increase in the number of reports published

Chairman's Comment
Lord McFall of Alcluith, Senior Deputy Speaker in the House of Lords and Chairman of the Liaison Committee said:
"Today's Committee highlights report demonstrates that House of Lords committees have had their most productive year ever, producing influential reports on a wide range of issues. It will provide essential background to the forthcoming review of Committees in the present session, to ensure that they continue to help the Lords play a key role in holding the Government to account."
