Fourteenth Informal Brexit Liaison Group meeting held
12 November 2018
The fourteenth meeting of the Informal Brexit Liaison Group, set up by the House of Lords Liaison Committee in November 2016, was held on 19 November 2018.
The Group held a discussion with Lord Callanan, Minister of State at the Department for Exiting the European Union. Matters raised included the deal on the UK's departure from the European Union, and the next steps, and the progress which had been made on producing the statutory instruments expected to be laid before Parliament for scrutiny.
The original estimate of the total number of "Brexit SIs" needed before exit day had been between 800-1000. This figure had now been revised down and the total number was now expected to be up to 700, although this might fluctuate. Further information was included in a letter from the Leader of the House of Commons to Committee Chairs in both Houses, including Lord Trefgarne and Lord Cunningham of Felling in the House of Lords.
