Committee meets Scottish ministers and MSPs to discuss EU reform

The House of Lords European Union Select Committee visits Edinburgh to discuss the implications for Scotland of the UK Government's vision for reform of the EU, ahead of the European summit later this week where the UK's proposals will be discussed.

On Wednesday 16 December, the House of Lords European Union Select Committee visits Edinburgh to discuss Scottish perspectives on the UK Government's vision for reform of the EU, ahead of the European summit later this week where the UK's proposals will be discussed. The Committee hears evidence from Fiona Hyslop MSP, Scottish Government Cabinet Secretary for Culture, Europe and External Affairs; from the Scottish Parliament European and External Relations Committee (which is conducting its own inquiry into EU reform and the EU referendum: implications for Scotland); and from academic experts.
The Chairman, Lord Boswell of Aynho, also privately meets the First Minister of Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon MSP, to discuss the Scottish Government's perspective on the UK Government's reform agenda.
The Committee's visit to Edinburgh completes a series of visits to the devolved institutions in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland to hear their views on the UK Government's reform priorities.
