Lords debates work of EU Committee in 2014-15

This afternoon the House of Lords debates the report of the European Union Committee on its work during the 2014-15 session.

The debate will consider:

  • The Committee's work in scrutinising nearly 150 EU legislative proposals and significant documents
  • Its inquiries on such issues as the EU and Russia, the post-crisis EU financial regulatory framework, civilian use of drones in the EU, EU alcohol strategy, the UK's opt-in protocol and regional marine cooperation
  • How the Committee has cooperated with colleagues in the EU institutions, the House of Commons and the devolved legislatures;
  • Its proposals for enhancing the role of national parliaments in the EU, including the proposed 'Green Card'
  • The future work of the Committee, including on the forthcoming referendum on UK membership of the EU.
