New Chancellor, Philip Hammond MP, faces Committee

The Chancellor of the Exchequer, the Rt Hon Philip Hammond MP, gives evidence before the Economic Affairs Committee on Thursday 8 September 2016. This is the first appearance of the Chancellor before a Parliamentary Committee since his appointment in July.

- What is the Government's approach to financial policy and reducing the public debt?
- What does the future hold for the City of London?
- His views on the proposed new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point. Does the deal represent good value for money?
- His views on support for people and industries left behind by globalisation.
- What is the future of large infrastructure projects including HS2? How will they be funded?
The Chancellor appears annually before the Economic Affairs Committee. The Committee is chaired by Lord Hollick. Current Committee members include Lord Lamont of Lerwick and Lord Darling of Roulanish.
