Criminal Cases Review Commission (Information) Bill powers deserve proper consideration

25 February 2016

The House of Lords Constitution Committee publishes a report on the Criminal Cases Review Commission (Information) Bill.

Report

The Bill seeks to extend the Criminal Cases Review Commission's powers to obtain documents and other material so that they can acquire them from a person who is not employed by or serving in a public body. In the report the Committee does not take a specific view on whether the powers in the Bill are, or are not, justified, but calls for proper consideration and draws the matter to the attention of the House.

The second reading of the bill is due on 26 February 2016.
