Regulators discuss the future of the UK's advertising industry

The Communications Committee discusses what regulatory measures are needed, and what best practice should be encouraged, for the UK's advertising industry. The Committee questions the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) and the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). The Committee also hears from an academic expert and the founder of an adtech firm.

In the first session, the Committee explores the challenges faced by ASA, ICO and CMA in overseeing advertising standards in branded content, the impending impact of GDPR, and competition law in the digital advertising market.
