Social housing allocation plans - Government Minister responds to questions on proposed ‘UK connection test’

The Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (LUHC) Committee has published a response from Baroness Scott of Bybrook, Social Housing and Faith Minister, Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (letter dated 18 April) following questions from the Committee on the Government’s proposed reforms to how social housing is allocated in England.

Clive Betts, Chair of the Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (LUHC) Committee had written to Baroness Scott of Bybrook, with a series of questions in relation to the Government’s proposed changes to who is eligible and who qualifies for social housing.

The Government’s proposals for six new tests, including a UK connection, income and terrorism tests, were open to a Government consultation which closed on 26 March.
