Reforming the Private Rented Sector - Levelling-Up Committee publishes Government response

The Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (LUHC) Committee has today published the Government’s response to the Committee’s report on Reforming the Private Rented Sector.

The report is published ahead of the Government’s Renters Reform Bill receiving its Second Reading in the House of Commons on Monday 23 October.

The Committee published its Reforming the Private Rented Sector Report on 9 February 2023, making a series of recommendations to Government in relation to plans to ban section 21 ‘no fault’ evictions, the student rental sector, and holiday lets (news item, 9 February).

On 19th September, the Committee published published a Special Report (see news item) which expressed ‘concern and disappointment’ at the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) for its persistent poor performance in the timeliness of Government responses to Committee reports. This report made specific reference to the Government’s failure to respond in a timely way to the Committee’s report on the Private Rented Sector.
