Levelling-Up Committee publish note on Ukraine refugee support scheme engagement events

16 January 2023

On Monday 16 January, the Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (LUHC) Committee published a summary note of the topics raised in the Committee’s recent engagement event on the Homes for Ukraine and Ukraine Family Schemes.

As part of the Committee’s ongoing work in this area, the LUHC Committee held an engagement event in Parliament on 5 December to hear from those with lived experiences relating to the Homes for Ukraine and Ukraine Family scheme.

The Committee spoke to hosts and guests (under both schemes) and also to local authority workers, including Rimma, and charity workers. The discussion covered a number of areas, including access to accommodation and the private rented sector, and issues relating to homelessness, employment and taxation.

The summary note was published on the same day that the Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (LUHC) Committee questions Felicity Buchan MP and Baroness Scott of Bybrook, Joint leads on Ukraine and Parliamentary Under Secretaries at the Department for Levelling-Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC), on the steps the Government has been taking to help support Ukraine refugees.
