Chair comment
Florence Eshalomi, Chair of the Housing, Communities and Local Government (HCLG) Committee, said: “While residents continue to suffer significant emotional and financial distress, the NAO’s report raises once again serious concerns about how quickly remediation work is being done to make buildings safe from the risk of fire.
“Seven years on from Grenfell, it’s unacceptable that many buildings with dangerous cladding have still not been identified and that the pace of the completion of cladding remediation works is so slow. Residents deserve better.
"I note the NAO’s call for the Government to publish a target date for ending cladding remediation. The HCLG Committee will keep a close eye on building safety issues, in particular, will be keen to understand the Government's timeline to address dangerous cladding and building remediation.”
