Ministry for Housing, Communities, and Local Government give evidence

The Housing, Communities and Local Government Committee holds a one-off session on the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government's Annual Report and Accounts (MHCLG) on Monday 21 January. Giving evidence will be Melanie Dawes, Permanent Secretary at MHCLG.
The session will examine the performance of MHCLG in the financial year 2017-18 and touch on range of issues within the Department's remit. This Committee will examine the response to the Grenfell tragedy, including the rehousing of people affected, and measures to reform building regulations and improve fire safety.
The Committee will also investigate the adequacy of the local government financial settlement in enabling local authorities to meet the challenges they face. They will also look at the effectiveness of policies on Help to Buy, Right to Buy and social housing in providing high quality, affordable housing.
