BHS disposal: Committee seeks further clarity

26 May 2016

The Work and Pensions Committee has written to Arcadia Group asking for further details of the disposal of BHS, and to Goldman Sachs' Anthony Gutman with a series of questions following up on his appearance before the Committees on Monday.

The Committee is also writing to Chris Martin, current Chair of BHS Pension Fund Trustees, asking for more details of the Trustees' meetings and correspondence, and to the Regulator on the issues of their interaction with BHS.

Chair's comment

Frank Field MP, Chair of the Work and Pensions Committee, said:

"We have already asked nearly 1,000 questions in our hearings. So far they have prompted more questions than answers. These requests for information are the first steps of the next stage of our inquiry.

We expect these documents to shed further light on the sorry tale of BHS before our sessions with Dominic Chappell and Sir Philip Green. Yet despite all the complexities it is now clear that Sir Philip called all the main shots."
