Chair welcomes Treasury's response to Pension Freedom Advice report
21 December 2015
Frank Field MP, Chair of the Work and Pensions Committee, has welcomed the Treasury's response to the Committee's Report on Pension Freedom Guidance and Advice.
In response to the Committee's recommendations, the Treasury published its first Pension Wise datasets alongside its response and announced it would procure external research into consumer outcomes following Pension Wise appointments. Other recommendations of the Committee are being considered as part of ongoing reviews.
Chair's comment
Frank Field MP, Chair of the Committee, said:
"This response, which indicates that Government listens, is welcome. They have produced much of the data we requested on the operation of the Pension Wise service. This means we and others can begin to do some more meaningful scrutiny and better assess the effectiveness of the guidance on offer, both in terms of service provision and outcomes. There is, however, a lot more to come out of the various reviews and research underway, and we will continue to monitor pension freedom closely throughout this Parliament."
