Chair comments on appointment of new CEO to The Pension Regulator

18 December 2018

Chair's comment

Commenting on today's announcement of the appointment of a new Chief Executive to The Pension Regulator, to succeed Lesley Titcomb, Rt Hon Frank Field MP said:

“We wish Charles Counsell well in his new role. But this appointment is unlikely to leave unscrupulous company directors quaking in their boots. As someone who was part of TPR's board while it failed to prevent the directors of BHS and Carillion running their pension schemes into the ground, he will have a long way to go to demonstrate that he really is the new broom that's so desperately needed.”

Alongside this, the Committee is today publishing a series of correspondence on the process for appointing the new chief executive.
