Committee responds to NAO report on automatic enrolment

3 November 2015

Chair of the Work and Pensions Committee, Frank Field MP, expressed his satisfaction over NAO's (National Audit Office) work and stressed its importance for small and micro employers.

Chair's comment

Chair of the Work and Pensions Committee, Frank Field MP, said:

"I am pleased to see today's National Audit Office's report on Automatic Enrolment to workplace pensions, and in particular their work on the remaining challenges in implementing the programme to smaller employers. The roll out of Automatic Enrolment to the 1.8 million small and micro employers - which includes professions and vocations such as nannies and carers – who are required to enrol their workers by 2018 is such an important area and one that the Committee will focus on in its upcoming inquiry.

Small and micro employers face very different challenges to the larger employers that have already enrolled. We will consider whether enough has been done to support smaller employers with their obligations, anticipate potential challenges for these employers and make recommendations for improvement of the process."
