Focus of the session
This is expected to be the final evidence session in the inquiry into Self-employment and the gig economy. Questions to be addressed include:
- How to ensure the correct balance between flexibility and employment rights/protections for gig economy workers
- The extent to which low-paid self-employed people rely more heavily on support from the welfare system, compared to low-paid employees
- Whether the Department intends to make changes to current Universal Credit and Jobcentre Plus support for self-employed people.
