Welsh businesses invited to share investment challenges in Committee roundtable

27 February 2025

MPs from Westminster’s Welsh Affairs Committee will hold a hybrid roundtable with businesses from across Wales next month.

The hybrid roundtable will take place in Wrexham, North Wales, at 08.30am on Monday 31 March. At the event, the Committee will speak to firms spanning the full range of Wales’ diverse business landscape, as part of its inquiry into promoting Wales for inward investment.

The Committee invites Welsh businesses, particularly those experienced in bidding for inward investment, to register their interest to attend the roundtable, which can be attended either in-person or online.

While the UK is among Europe’s most successful countries for attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) projects, Wales has struggled to attract the same level of inward investment as its other nations and regions in the UK.

MPs want to understand how Wales is promoted as a destination for overseas investors and what lessons could be learned from its success in the creative, media and sports sectors.

Chair comment

Chair of the Welsh Affairs Committee, Ruth Jones MP, said:

“Our roundtable will be a chance for businesses from right across Wales to share their successes and challenges in attracting investment, their hopes for the future and their concerns.

“This event is open to all enterprises, no matter how big or small. I encourage firms from across the length and breadth of Wales to make the most of this opportunity to help us understand the reality of attracting investment today.”
