MPs to start taking evidence on the prison estate in Wales
11 January 2024
The Welsh Affairs Committee will hold its first evidence session exploring ‘Prisons in Wales’, seeking to better understand the Welsh prison estate and the experience of third sector organisations working with and within prisons.
Across two panels, MPs will have the opportunity to explore the impact of the rising number of people being held in prisons across Wales, the physical infrastructure of the Welsh prison estate and the experiences of prisons officers. Among other issues, they will likely discuss the impact of covid-19 on prisons and prisoners and the experience of Welsh women in English prisons.
