Experts questioned on the financing of new nuclear projects

The Welsh Affairs Committee will quiz experts on whether funding models are adequate to meet the UK Government’s targets to generate 24GW of nuclear power by 2050.

MPs will hear from Aviva Investors, Sizewell C and the Nuclear Industry Association on the financing of new nuclear projects covering the Regulated Asset Base model of funding, green taxonomy and private investment. They will also be discussing the importance of the UK Government’s commitment to the nuclear sector and public funding.
The evidence session comes amid reports that the UK Government is hoping to finalise a deal shortly on the funding of the Sizewell C nuclear power plant.
