In their third evidence session, MPs will examine the arguments both for and against UBI and consider the implications of the Welsh Government’s pilot scheme targeted at young people leaving care.
MPs will take evidence from representatives of Robert Gordon University, the University of Bath, the New Economics Foundation, and UBILab Wales. The Committee is likely to examine not only the Welsh Government’s pilot but also UBI’s potential to reduce poverty levels, its potential costs and macroeconomic impacts, how it compares to other means of supporting people with greater social-economic needs, and lessons learned from trial schemes abroad.
