Evidence session: Work of the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency

The Committee is holding a one-off oral evidence session examining the work of the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency on Wednesday 27 October at 9.30am. The DVSA is an executive agency of the Department for Transport, which makes it a scrutiny responsibility for the Transport Select Committee.

Scope of the session

Likely subjects for discussion include:

  • The extent to which the DVSA is responsible for and can help to tackle skills and labour shortages in the haulage industry;
  • Waiting times and current demand for tests to obtain HGV licences;
  • The potential effect on safety of new regulations on HGV driver hours;
  • DVSA operations, including Covid working; and
  • Trailer safety.
