The Committee holds a pre-appointment hearing following the Secretary of State for Transport's announcement of his preferred candidate as Chair of the Office of Rail and Road, Declan Collier.

Scope of the session
As part of its scrutiny of the Department for Transport, the Transport Committee is invited to hold a pre-appointment hearing for new Chairs of the Office of Rail and Road (ORR). These hearings are intended to increase scrutiny of important public appointments, and add legitimacy to appointments which are approved by the Committee.
On 21 August 2018 the Secretary of State for Transport announced that his preferred candidate to replace Stephen Glaister as Chair of the ORR was Declan Collier, who most recently served as Chief Executive of London City Airport.
