UK arms in Yemen examined with legal and defence representatives

The Committees on Arms Export Controls (CAEC) continue their inquiry into the use of UK-manufactured arms in Yemen by hearing from a QC who is challenging the Government's sales of defence equipment to Saudi Arabia, and from a representative of the UK defence and aerospace industry.

Philippe Sands QC has co-written a legal opinion which argues that the continuation of arms sales to Saudi Arabia given their use in the conflict in Yemen is in contravention of international arms control agreements.

ADS is the trade representative body for the UK defence and aerospace industry. It gives the perspective of industry in the process of international arms sales and compliance with international agreements.
