Scottish Secretary questioned on Supreme Court ruling on independence referendum

Ministers from the Scotland Office will be giving evidence to the Scottish Affairs Committee following the Supreme Court’s rejection of the Scottish Government’s argument that the Scottish Parliament can legislate for a second independence referendum.

The wide-ranging evidence session, which is expected to also discuss the implications of the Autumn Statement and cost of living in Scotland, will offer MPs the chance to explore the UK Government’s approach to intergovernmental relations.

Joining Secretary of State Alister Jack will be junior ministers Lord Offord and John Lamont, and Director of the Office of the Secretary of State for Scotland, Laurence Rockey.
