Purpose of the session
The Committee is examining the effectiveness of the relationship between the Scottish and UK Governments. The need for effective intergovernmental working is becoming ever-more important as the UK faces the challenge of blurred boundaries between reserved and devolved competence, and the need to establish UK-wide common frameworks in areas currently covered by EU law.
The Committee will hear the views of former officials and politicians who have close experience of the working arrangements between the two governments, and question them on their experiences of joint working, how the intergovernmental relationship has changed over time, and proposals for reform.
