Lord Vallance: Science, Innovation and Technology Committee Chair comments on evidence session

Speaking after the session, the Chair of the committee, Chi Onwurah MP, said:  

“Lord Vallance’s expression of support for US Scientists at this time of uncertainty is welcome.  

“In America, a cohort of world-leading researchers are set to have their federal support removed. The UK Government, particularly DSIT and the Home Office, should be ready to help our research sector capitalise on the potential opportunity that events in the United States have created.  

“In today’s evidence session, Lord Vallance highlighted the attractive research environment the UK offers and rightly said that this should not go unnoticed. However, the government should be proactively working to ensure that it can make the most attractive offer possible to those researched affected by the ongoing uncertainty.”
