Committee to hear from experts in virtual session

Purpose of the session

This session will comprise of two panels, the first focussing on metrics for managing the pandemic, including the significance of the ‘R' value, the effect of different social distancing measures on ‘R' and the extent to which the introduction of a contact tracing app could help to ease social distancing measures, as well as how data might help scientists to understand high death rates in certain populations in the UK. The second panel will concentrate on international comparisons, including how differences in recording and population might contribute to variations in international death rates .
