Stephen McPartland MP elected Chair of Regulatory Reform Committee
4 March 2020
Stephen McPartland has been elected as the new Chair of the Regulatory Reform Committee.
The Conservative MP for Stevenage was chosen by members of the Committee at its first meeting of this Parliament on Wednesday 4 March.
Mr McPartland said:
“I'm delighted to have been re-elected as Chair of the Regulatory Reform Committee, and I look forward to working with Committee Members and staff. The Committee plays an important role in scrutinising draft Legislative Reform Orders and the Government's wider regulatory reform agenda.”
The Regulatory Reform Committee examines and reports on draft Legislative Reform Orders (LROs) – a form of secondary legislation used by the Government with the intent of removing an existing law which is deemed to place an unnecessary burden on businesses or other organisations.
