The inquiry
The Inquiry begins two months after the UK Government outlined new proposals on tackling the legacy of the Troubles in a statement to the House of Commons. The proposals include significant departures from the 2014 Stormont House Agreement, the previous attempt to tackle the issue before March's statement.
Purpose of the session
The CVSNI panel, headed by Victims' Commissioner Judith Thompson, is expected to be asked about their view on the UK Government's new legacy proposals including;
- Engagement with UK Government in their formation;
- the proposed merging of information recovery and investigative aspects outlined in the Stormont House Agreement into one institution in the new Government approach; and
- The proposed investigative process
