Simon Hoare re-elected as Chair of Northern Ireland Affairs Committee

Simon Hoare MP has been re-elected Chair of the Northern Ireland Affairs Committee.

Following an election for the position of Chair, Simon Hoare – Conservative MP for North Dorset – has been re-elected as Chair of the Northern Ireland Affairs Committee.

The secret ballot of MPs took place on Wednesday, 29th January. Votes were counted under the Alternative Vote system.

Commenting on his election, Mr Hoare said:

"I am grateful for the support from my colleagues from across the House for re-electing me to the Chair of the Northern Ireland Affairs Select Committee. This is a critical moment for Northern Ireland, and it is important that the Northern Ireland Office is subject to detailed and constructive scrutiny on Brexit and other issues. I look forward to working with Select Committee Members, once appointed, from all parties in scrutinising Northern Ireland policy."
