Simon Hoare elected as Chair of Northern Ireland Affairs Committee

The new Chair of the Northern Ireland Affairs Committee is Simon Hoare MP.
Following an election for the position of Chair, Simon Hoare – Conservative MP for North Dorset – has been elected as the new chair of the Northern Ireland Affairs Committee.
The secret ballot of MPs took place on Wednesday, 12th June. Votes were counted under the Alternative Vote system.
Simon Hoare will take up the role of Chair with immediate effect. Commenting on his election, MrHoare said:
"I am thrilled to have been elected as Chair of the Northern Ireland Affairs Committee. The Committee has an important job to do at this crucial time for devolution in Northern Ireland, and I intend to ensure that the Committee continues to provide the essential scrutiny Northern Ireland's people need."
