Purpose of the session
The session will further consider the range of issues posed by the land border that the UK Government will need to take into account in the Brexit negotiations. These include the potential implications for the border of the UK leaving the customs union and single market, and how best to deliver the Government's commitment that there will be no return to the borders of the past. The session will also consider examples from other countries where the EU has an external frontier.
