This week, we held a private informal meeting on the Ministry of Justice's spring supplementary estimates.
Published correspondence
- Letter from the Director of Public Prosecutions, regarding prosecutions under section 121 Anti-Social Crime and Behaviour Act 2014, dated 25 February 2019. The DPP responded to concerns raised by the Chair in this letter (dated 30 January 2019) about forced marriage cases where the victim had dementia.
- Letter from the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, regarding HMCTS reform programme, dated 5 March 2019
Future business
The next meeting of the Committee is on 26 March 2019.
We will take evidence on progress in the implementation of the Lammy Review's recommendations, relating to the treatment of, and outcomes for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic individuals in the criminal justice system.
The first panel of witnesses (from 10.00am) is made up of:
- Laurie Hunte, Criminal Justice Programme Manager, Barrow Cadbury Trust
- Jessica Mullen, Policy Manager, Clinks
- Jabeer Butt, Chief Executive Officer, Race Equality Foundation
- Nina Champion, Director, Criminal Justice Alliance.
From approximately 10.45am, we will take evidence from David Lammy MP.
