Purpose of the session
This one-off evidence session is expected to cover a number of issues including:
- The rationale and evidence supporting the Government's proposals for raising the small claims limit
- The potential impact of raising the limit, including for employer liability/ public liability claims, and the implications for the judiciary and court staff
- The Government's progress in working towards implementation of the reforms, and its proposals for ensuring the needs of claimants are met
- The implications of the reforms for the Before the Event (BTE) insurance market and the potential impact on the claims management sector
This is a one-off evidence session, and the Committee is not seeking written or oral submissions from others on the subjects which will be covered in the session.
