Purpose of the session
In its Criminal justice inspectorates Report (PDF 199 KB), the Committee said that it intended to hold an annual evidence session with the three criminal justice inspectorates which come within its remit, and with the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman.
This is the first of these proposed sessions. They are intended to enable the Committee to discuss collectively with the Inspectors and the Ombudsman the work of their organisations, and their governance and relationships with their sponsoring Ministers. The Committee hopes that these sessions will be part of a process of strengthening its relationship with the Inspectors and the Ombudsman.
