Director of the Serious Fraud Office questioned
18 December 2018
The Justice Committee holds an evidence session with the Director of the Serious Fraud Office.
The Serious Fraud Office aims to reduce the harm caused by high level economic crime and preserve the reputation of the UK as a safe place to do business. The new Director, Lisa Osofsky, took up her position on 28 August 2018.
The SFO investigates and, where appropriate, prosecutes cases of serious or complex fraud which, in the opinion of the Director, call for the multi-disciplinary approach and legislative powers available to the SFO. In addition, the SFO recovers the proceeds of those crimes it investigates and helps overseas jurisdictions in their investigations into serious or complex fraud, bribery and corruption.
