20 September 2018

The Chair of the Justice Committee has commented on the announcement that Chief Executive of HM Prison and Probation Service, Michael Spurr, will leave his role at the end of March next year.

Chair's comment

Bob Neil MP, Chair of the Justice Committee, said:

"I would like to pay tribute to Michael Spurr for the many years of dedicated  public service he has given HMPPS and the broader justice system of this country. The prison and probation services face tough challenges and so I agree that now is the right time to consider the HMPPS' strategy for the next decade. I have asked the MOJ for early information on the transition arrangements, including the process for appointing Mr Spurr's replacement."
