Justice Committee to question Lord Timpson on prisons drugs crisis

The Justice Committee will question Lord Timpson, Minister for Prisons, Probation and Reducing Reoffending at the Ministry of Justice during an evidence session in Parliament on Tuesday, 8 July.

MPs on the cross-party committee chaired by Labour MP Andy Slaughter will also hear from two senior officials from His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service overseeing security and rehabilitation respectively.
The evidence session forms part of the Committee’s two current inquiries on Tackling drugs in prisons and Rehabilitation and resettlement: ending the cycle of reoffending.
MPs will assess the Ministry of Justice’s progress in addressing the drugs crisis in prisons and examine outcomes relating to rehabilitation during Lord Timpson’s first year in office.
