Committee to take evidence on children and young people in custody

The Justice Committee will hold an online live broadcast meeting on 30 June 2020 at 2.30pm on its inquiry into children and young people in custody.

The Committee will have an opportunity to seek updates on the effect Covid-19 has had on the youth justice system. Aside from Covid-19, the session will additionally cover the changes to the youth justice population in the past ten years, and how the youth justice system has adapted to these changes. The session will look at the current criminal records system, diversion from formal criminal justice processing and custody, and the resettlement needs of children released from custody.
